What is 25ppm deuterium depleted water?

Deuterium depleted water is water in which the naturally occurring deuterium content has been industrially reduced. Deuterium is a stable isotope of hydrogen present in all water. Ordinary drinking water contains around 150 parts per million. Yavelle is produced to a 25 parts per million specification, roughly 80 per cent less.

What does deuterium depleted water do?

Yavelle makes no health claims about its product. Deuterium depletion has a published research literature and a published sceptical literature. The human trials are small, most of the work is in cell cultures or animals rather than people, and the standard of evidence required to make a health claim about a beverage is not currently met. Yavelle publishes both sides and makes no claims based on either.

Why can deuterium not be filtered out of water?

Deuterium is chemically identical to ordinary hydrogen and differs only in mass, so a filter has nothing to catch. Carbon filters, ceramic filters, reverse osmosis and ordinary distillation all leave it untouched. The only method is repeated industrial separation, which is what determines the cost.

How is Yavelle deuterium depleted water verified?

Every batch is tested by an independent laboratory and the certificate of analysis published before the water goes on sale. The certificate names the laboratory, states the method used, carries a batch identifier and gives a result with a stated uncertainty range. The most recent batch tested at 20 parts per million, exceeding the stated 25 parts per million specification.

How much deuterium depleted water should I drink?

That is up to the individual. Yavelle is a beverage, not a protocol, and there is no amount anyone is meant to reach. Most people drink it alongside their normal water rather than instead of it.

Can Yavelle be mixed with regular water?

Yes. The result is a volume weighted average. One litre of Yavelle at 25 parts per million mixed with one litre of ordinary water at 150 parts per million works out to 87.5 parts per million, not 25. Yavelle publishes an intake calculator that does the arithmetic.

How long does one box of Yavelle last?

One box contains 24 x 500mL bottles, 12 litres in total. How long that lasts depends entirely on how much is consumed each day and whether it is mixed with other water.

What is in Yavelle deuterium depleted water?

Distilled water with a small quantity of electrolytes: potassium bicarbonate, calcium chloride and magnesium chloride. It contains no sugar, sweeteners, flavours, preservatives or caffeine. It is sold and regulated as a food.

Can you make deuterium depleted water at home?

No. Home methods such as freezing or distilling change the deuterium content of water by only one or two per cent. Yavelle contains roughly 80 per cent less deuterium than ordinary drinking water, which requires industrial isotopic separation.

How people use it
